DAMN magazine N°91 visual essay

OpenStructures was invited to create the 'Artist pages', a 50 pages visual essay for DAMN magazine. Beyond this invitation OS also suggested the magazine’s editorial theme and co-curated its content. DAMN° 91 focusses on interconnectivity & stewardship and explores how design, art and architecture are reshaping ideas of connection, care and responsibility.

DAMN°91 explores stewardship, not as ownership or control but as the act of tending. To pay attention to what connects us rather than what divides us. To understand design not only as production but as a metabolism, a way of caring for materials, ideas, and each other. Interconnectivity & Stewardship invites a shift in perspective, from acceleration to attention, from isolation to relation. It reminds us that design needs to embrace continuity, care, and cooperation. The challenge today is not to invent more stuff, but to look at what already exists and find ways to keep it alive.

Alongside our interview with Kees Klomp and his ideas on Ecoliberalism, this issue features an in-depth interview with Julia Watson (Lo–TEK), Feifei Zhou, FutureFarmers, Decoratelier, Assemble, Matali Crasset, Yufei Gao and more. In the 20 pages rich ’Spotted’ section, we spotlight products and research by both emerging and established designers that foreground adaptability, care, and material intelligence, all based on OpenStructures. A compelling reader on systems and relationships, and how we care for what connects us.
