Le Labo 1.0 by Baguette Studio proposes a series of lamps with differently shaped natural wax lampshades. They imagined a full product-life-cycle, based on a transparent, local, and adaptable production process. At its core is a wax-based moulding-system that sees objects not as a final product but as material in motion — fully remouldable thanks to its 100% natural wax composition.
Using a rotational casting technique borrowed from the plastics industry, each lamp is made on-site, with customers witnessing the process. Designed for reshaping through local micro-production points, the lamp becomes a changing product inviting a more sustainable, ongoing relationship with objects.
All lamps share the same weight for waste-free remelting, while the stainless steel base is based on OpenStructures and can be reused in other objects after dismantling. 'LE LABO 1.0' explores an ecosystem of objects where every stage of the material life cycle is carefully considered to eliminate waste, while also imagining what a transparent, local production space could be.
