Open Kaart - The region under a magnifying glass

“Open Kaart" (Eng.: Open Map) is an exhibition and archiving system developed in collaboration with Tim Knapen for De Helix, a knowledge and educational center for nature and the environment near Geraardsbergen, Belgium.

It is conceived as an ever growing archive that gathers and displays information about the ecology and life in the Dender-Mark region. All content and information is continuously being collected and updated by visitors, locals and volunteers during the many events, studies and activities organised by the center.

The objects, stories and images can be stored and presented in an archiving infrastructure that was built according to the OpenStructures design principles. The digital component of the archive is able to collect, store and display the collected videos, photos, sounds and texts.
